Specialty Exams

  • Our care team will assess the health of the inside and outside of your eyes to detect any early ocular disease that might require treatment or further testing - such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and dry eyes. We also evaluate you as a whole person, including assessing for the signs of systemic health conditions that can impact your eyes and your life such as diabetes and hypertension.

Most importantly, we take the time to talk to you about the state of your eyes and what the test results mean. We are dedicated to clear and caring communication.

  • We pay special attention to signs of age-related diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and cataracts as well as signs or effects of hypertension, high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease. We also offer cataract consultations to discuss options and outcomes prior to making a final decision with your surgeon. For instance, what distance would you like your new vision to be set at? Would you prefer multifocal or toric implants? We’re here to help.

  • Even mild double vision can affect balance, walking, hand-eye coordination, learning, reading, driving and cause headaches. Causes vary and in turn treatments vary. Subtle double vision can be hard to detect but is worth the time to assess. If it can be controlled with the right intervention it can make a world of difference to your eye comfort, function, and ability to focus.

Our doctor and our practice have been sought out regularly for glasses correction for double vision and binocular vision challenges.

  • Is surgery right for you? Before you go to Yelp to find a surgeon or talk to your coworker who just got it done, recognize that these are your precious two eyes! It takes a professional in-depth look at your vision, eye health, lifestyle, needs, and concerns to help you decide if refractive surgery is right for you. Contact us to schedule a consultation if surgery is on your mind.

Pediatric Care

  • When children have untreated vision problems, it affects eye development, mood and learning. Ultimately impacting their potential. We recommend a comprehensive eye exam by an Optometrist at age 3 and 5 yrs of age to assess for developmental or learning concerns, and as recommended by the doctor after that. Younger than age 3, please contact our office to let us know of the concern and we can direct you properly. Our fun and age-appropriate eye exams check for a wide variety of visual and health conditions to make sure your child is developing to their full potential.

  • “Myopia Control” refers to various methods that eye doctors use to slow down the progression of nearsightedness in children. While myopia can’t be reversed or cured, myopia management can help safeguard children from moderate and high levels of adult myopia and an increased likelihood for sight-threatening eye diseases such as retinal detachments, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. We highly recommend an open discussion between parent, doctor and child on if and when myopia control is appropriate and which method is best suited for the particular child and their family.

Disease Management

  • Our care team will assess the health of the inside and outside of your eyes to detect any early ocular disease that might require treatment or further testing - such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and dry eyes. We also evaluate you as a whole person, including assessing for the signs of systemic health conditions that can impact your eyes and your life such as diabetes and hypertension.

  • When a person is experiencing new or ongoing headaches there are two specialists you need to see first: your primary care physician and your Optometrist. Eyes and their function and health can frequently be the cause of new, different, or ongoing headaches. A proper eye exam is necessary to help make sure your eyes and your neural pathway are not at risk of sight threatening conditions which may appear as headache symptoms. And an optometrist can help prescribe proper glasses or eye health treatments to help alleviate eye and vision related causes of your headaches.

  • Pink eye, red eye, and other similar diseases of the front of the eye can be short-lived or a recurring frustration most often caused by a virus, bacteria or allergy. It’s best to treat these early on when they are mild and before they cause lasting damage to your vision. usually refers to viral conjunctivitis, the most common type, which is highly contagious and affects both children and adults.

How to prepare for your appointment

You can help your optometrist by having the following information on hand at your appointment:

  • Any current or past eye conditions or symptoms

  • Your family’s history of eye problems

  • Any health conditions you have, including diabetes and high blood pressure (hypertension), as they may be eye health risk factors

  • Your eyeglasses or contact lenses, or the prescription or contact lens box

  • It’s a great idea to write down everything you want to tell your optometrist

You should also prepare for your pupils to remain dilated for up to a few hours after your exam. Dilation makes your eyes more sensitive to light and can affect your ability to see in detail. To minimize any resulting difficulties, bring sunglasses to wear afterward and arrange for a ride home if you’re uncomfortable with driving.

Personalized service is a hallmark of what we do, and we want you to feel right at home.
